OLD MILL DISTRICT

The client came to us with this concept/ script and voiceover. WK Studios partnered with Timothy Park to take their concept and turn it into reality. One of the challenges of this campaign was to maintain a consistent style and feel across multiple commercials. The graphic designer (hired by the Old Mill) really did a great job creating a backdrop. All the props/ wardrobe/ lighting/ etc were carefully considered to help create that fun feel.

All in all they were a lot of fun to work on, and proved to be an effective way for the Old Mill to increase brand awareness and draw people to their location.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

The client wanted a video that highlighted their ongoing partnership with San Lucas Toliman, a small town in Guatemala whilst simultaneously highlighting the work of Habitat for Humanity in that region.

The two principals of WK Studios travelled to Guatemala with a team of Habitat volunteers for 10 days to film extensively with the team, with Habitat for Humanity, and with the locals. Later, we edited it together into this video.

This video has gone around the world and has been very successful as a tool for raising money for Habitat for Humanity Guatemala.

ORION EYE CARE

The client wanted 2 videos: 1. a video to show potential clients who they were and what made them unique. 2. A second video to show clients what to expect during surgery.

The first video was more traditional (interview and B-roll), for the second video, WK Studios decided to recreate the actual experience of a person who was arriving and prepping for surgery. The goal was to show the facility, meet the Doctors and get comfortable with the process prior to arriving. This would help potential clients know what to expect beforehand and put their minds at ease. It has proved very effective for the intended audience and has accomplished the client’s goals.

DESTINATION BEER TV PILOT

For the pilot episode of “Destination Beer,” a beer and travel show highlighting great breweries and the communities in which they reside, we filmed the nationally distributed Deschutes Brewery in our hometown Bend, Oregon. With this project, we also visited popular and interesting sites around Bend.

As a pilot episode, with a small team, we literally got to craft this program from the ground up. From the look to the transitions, the motion graphics to the musical style, we created this program entirely from scratch. With more than 16,000 views, this video has garnered a lot of great feedback, and has gone worldwide

ELECTRONICS INTERNATIONAL INC.

For this project, we travelled to Pacific Valley Aviation in Arbuckle, California. The client wanted a case study video for their aircraft instrument, The MVP 50T. They wanted to show how it was used in a real world situation and how it was trusted by some of the world’s most extreme flyers—even crop dusters.

Because of budgetary restrictions, we weren’t able to scout the location ahead of time. We just hit the ground and started filming! Our team was able to adapt to the constantly changing environment to get the best shots quickly in each location. A link to this video was published in various trade magazines and quickly garnered more than 10,000 potential client’s views.

GARY GRUNER CHEVROLET

The goal of this video was simple: to show how easy it was to get to Gary Gruner’s Chevrolet. They wanted to show people that even though their dealership was a little more than an hour away, the trip was easy and the savings were well worth the journey. For this spot, we filmed in multiple locations between Bend and Madras, Oregon.

This was a fun project, because we got to buck the traditional car commercial and come up with something absolutely original. For the parachute scene in particular, we had to get creative. We set up a green screen and hung rigging from the ceiling in order to film that scene. This video was widely remembered and greatly increased the brand awareness of Gary Gruner’s.

SOLAIRE HOME BUILDERS

The client’s goal for this project was twofold: they wanted to highlight their homes and they wanted to emphasize the fact that their homes are net zero—they produce more electricity than they take from the grid. The challenge for us: how to make empty homes engaging. Our solution was to add movements to most of the shots, allowing the camera to “reveal” new things in the frame.

ELECTRONICS INTERNATIONAL CASE STUDY

The client approached us with a Skype interview of a man who had purchased one of EI’s engine monitors and had subsequently had that monitor save his life. He wanted a re-creation based on the style of “Locked Up Abroad” that would show how entirely amazing and useful their engine monitors are.

One of the challenges of this project was recreating a burning airplane in flight. This we accomplished with the use of a green screen, recreating an airplane floorboard with rudder pedals and setting it on fire, and special FX. This video went relatively viral and got 15,000 views on youtube in 2 weeks.

The distribution for this was to purchase small ads in trade magazines promoting the video. It was extremely successful with the target market and quickly raised brand awareness as well as respect for the project.

TOWER THEATRE

The team over at Tower Theatre in Bend, Oregon wanted a video that would be used to help raise money for their theatre, while showcasing their resilience. Our approach was to show what the street and arts community would look like without the beacon spire of “Bend’s living room.”

The biggest challenge of this project was finding a musician willing to play on the Tower Marquee in the freezing cold. Chris Thomas not only took up the challenge, but wrote and recorded a custom score overnight. We posed the question “What if…” the Tower was not here anymore? And the community responded by rallying behind the theatre. The Tower staff tells us that the video has been very effective in helping to raise funds.

WE WIN

During the Covid 19 pandemic, the client approached us with a problem: 18-24 year olds were not wearing masks or taking mask wearing seriously.

Since the budget was low, we decided to concentrate more on the message than the production quality. After some brainstorming with our team, this is what we came up with. We came up with three videos.

WHOLE FOODS MARKET

Whole Foods Market wanted a series of videos for distribution specifically in the Pacific Northwest on its Youtube and other social media channels.

WK Studios was hired to travel throughout Oregon and Washington, and create these videos with a very narrow focus (ie the Local Loan Producer recipients) and very specific target audience (Pacific Northwesterners).

Whole Foods got a lot of response from these videos, and one of them went on to be used in their national campaign.

SEVEN PEAKS SCHOOL

WK Studios was hired by Seven Peaks School to create a profile video highlighting their unique value proposition. During the conversations, prior to shooting, it came up that they would also like a shorter video that highlighted each of their core values.

We worked the production of the shorter videos into the filming of the longer video and were able to save the client a significant amount of money while providing top notch videos.
